 Opportunities, challenges and strategies in engaging international students as volunteer

Organisations within the not for profit sector have been required to take on a variety of programs that encompass all age groups.  Many would also like to receive more young volunteers to revitalise their programs and create new supporters. Diversity is also an important part of creating a cohesive society and creating an inclusive community. International Students make a considerable contribution to society through volunteering. The City of Sydney provides a wide variety of services for our diverse communities. These services include community services, libraries, recreation facilities, parks and gardens, public health, traffic, parking and animal management. City of Sydney( The City) is a local government authority for central Sydney and surrounds. The City's Social Sustainability Strategy outlines the City's commitment to an inclusive, connected, engaged and liveable city.
Our presenter manages the several key programs championing volunteering and international students. Since (insert date), Shopfront has facilitated more than (insert number) of successful community projects as well as overseeing [number of hours insert] of extra-curricular student volunteering in the community. 
Presenter bio: Ms Susana Ng, Senior Social Programs Officer, City of Sydney
 Susana is the Senior Social Programs Officer with the City of Sydney and the Program Manager for the City of Sydney’s International Student Leadership and Ambassador Program. The program won the NSW International Student Engagement Award 2014 and the Youth Work Award 2018–Outstanding Work. She has also developed a range of community development programs to promote social cohesion in the City of Sydney. Susana arrived in Sydney as an international student in 1998 to pursue a Bachelor of Social Work. She also holds a Master's of Management. Susana has over 25 years of experience in community development and management in Australia and in Hong Kong. Her special interests and expertise include leadership training, multicultural policy, community development, volunteer management, and social coheson.
