SoCal Soccer Women PLAY In Norway For The Global Goals | Henningsvær, Lofoten Islands, Norway | sundag, 22. juli 2018

In late-July 2018, a squad of nineteen female soccer players, ranging in age from 41 to 77, will PLAY in Henningsvaer* and Oslo, Norway as Southern California ambassadors to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In September 2015, the leaders of all 193 member states of the UN adopted Agenda 2030, a universal agenda that contains the Global Goals. The 17 Goals in turn hold 169 targets and 230 indicators. The the nineteen athletes have chosen to highlight and raise awareness for three of the seventeen SDGs.

GOAL 3 | Good Health and Well-Being The physical, emotional and mental benefits of exercise.
GOAL 5 | Gender Equality Equitable opportunities for women and girls worldwide.
GOAL 10 | Reduced Inequalities Discrimination based on age, abilities, gender or sexual orientation.

Locally-supported by the United Nations Association of San Diego (UNA USA San Diego) for this initiative, the San Diego Soccer Women organization promotes soccer for age 30+ women year-round. Future participation is planned in the NYC Global Goals World Cup in September 2018 and at Global Goals advocacy events during the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.
*Henningsvaer, Norway is the site of the "most beautiful - spectacular - awesome" soccer field in the world, according to the online press.
